LERT, operating as EMSC & SMBA is a non-profit organization that has very few paid staff. The club depends on volunteers to run most of its operations. The Work Credit (WC) program is designed to raise funds and to actively involve ALL parents (and racers over 18) in the overall operation of the club. At the beginning of the season each family is assigned a set number of work credits based on the program option chosen. Credit is earned by volunteering with club activities throughout the season.
The club's survival is dependent upon volunteers. In order to help assure that the club receives the required volunteer support, a work deposit check is collected annually from each family at the time of registration. LERT requires all members to support the club through a minimum number of volunteer hours or pay a fee for the hours not worked. Many families exceed the number of hours required, which is greatly appreciated! Volunteers must sign up prior to the event in order to get credit for the hours worked. It is first come, first serve for the events you want to volunteer for. Click here to explore and sign up for volunteer opportunities.
To encourage participation by all members, a work credit deposit is required at the beginning of the season. Each credit you earn is applied against your deposit. Your deposit check is returned (un-cashed) only if you complete ALL YOUR WORK CREDITS and meet the Fundraising requirement by June 30, 2009. Otherwise the check is cashed after June 30, 2009 and a refund for the work credits you earned is sent back to you.
All volunteers should keep their own log of work credits earned. Volunteers will receive a receipt for each day of work. If you have a specific question about work credits earned please email the LERT Volunteer Coordinator (
