About Mary Beth Reece: As a two-time resident of Boulder, 1994-1998 and 2004 – present, I started riding mountain bikes in the 90s on a purple hard tail Trek with bar ends. Our family’s first exposure to L.E.R.T. came in 2004 when our two oldest sons, Austin and Jack, rode in SMBA’s Junior Rider Camp, mostly in the rain, that week in June. As a family, everyone took easily to the big knobby tires of the mountain bikes and we enjoyed rides throughout Colorado and Utah for many years. Our youngest son, Quinn, rode 9 years with SMBA and became a coach and racer as well. Quinn also participated in EMSC’s Snowboard program for two years and loved riding every Saturday at Eldora.

Position: Member, Board of Directors. Professionally, I have an extensive background in project, operations and financial management. My career has included work at startups, small non profits, large corporations, and research and development institutions. I recently joined Boulder Emergency Physicians as their Practice Administrator on a part time basis. This work schedule allows me to do what I really love which is to ride and race my own bike and coach high school students participating in the Colorado High School Cycling League

Skiing/Racing  Experience:  I race a handful of XC races each summer. I have raced and completed all but two of the 10 Beti Bike Bash races held in Colorado.

Coaching/BOD experience:  I’ve been a volunteer coach for five years with the Boulder High School Mountain Bike team and have undertaken responsibility for recruiting and managing the BHS team sponsors, in support of the head coach. I joined the LERT Board of Directors in March 2019 and it’s my first experience as the member of a non profit BOD.

Favorite Volunteer Project: anything involving mountain bikes

Fun Fact: I spent my early years growing up in Devils Lake, North Dakota (yes, that’s a real place)
