Ron LeMaster loved the sport of skiing.  He began skiing at the age of 7 and never looked back!  He spent more than 30 years as a ski instructor, race coach, and contributor to the sport.  Ron was certified and accredited by the Professional Ski Instructors of America, he was a technical advisor to the U.S. Ski Team, Aspen Ski Club, Vail Ski School, and lectured frequently about technique and biomechanics to ski schools and teams around the world.  His expertise was par to none, and it was truly because he loved what he did and wanted to share that love with others.  His technical explanations and analyzations of the carve in skiing were exceptional and coined by many in the industry as the best.  A regular contributor to skiing publications, Ron was also an author of multiple books, has written technical guides for the Professional Ski Instructors of America and contributed to educational materials for the U.S. Coaches Association.

Although Ron’s life was taken too soon, he was doing what he loved to do and at the mountain that he called home. Ron called Eldora his home mountain and you would be able to see him there regularly with a hard to miss smile and eagerness to spark up a conversation with just about anyone who wanted to talk about skiing.  He was happy to offer free advice and help you become a better rider.   We have chosen to honor Ron LeMaster and his legacy in skiing by creating a fundraiser that will help raise funds to replace the existing trail lighting for night training/skiing with state-of-the-art illumination at his favorite mountain, Eldora.  This project will provide many additional hours of training and coaching for athletes.  Here under the lights the athletes that Ron inspired through his coaching techniques will be able to carry on his spirit and love of the sport!  Just as Ron lit the way for so many others let’s rally together and help continue to help Ron Light the Way!
